A new production plant has recently been tested at Criotec company in Chivasso (near Turin); the plant was created in order to realize compaction operations and the bending of superconductors, useful for creating toroidal coils, that are unique in their genre and obtained also thank to Tauring Group technology.
These coils are made with different kind of jackets, whose length is up to 1000mt and have a high commercial value. They will be used in the ITER project, designed to create the first prototype of a thermonuclear fusion plant.
The technological challenge, given by the need of high performances and minimum tolerance, was overtaken thanks to Tauring bending machine mod. ALPHA 120 CNC-I, in special version AIV. This is the best machine to be used in this field as far as reliability and performances are concerned. Among its production range, It expresses the perfect union between speed and power synchronism, in which quality and bending precision play a central role.
In this context, the mix between Tauring Group mechanical quality and the added value given by the new Interpolated Numerical Control (CNCi Plus) let the customer obtain homogeneous bends of high quality, despite the critical conditions.
